Undergraduate researchers Tiffany and Taylor prepare to explore apples along the Skunk Canyon Trail.

This summer, undergraduate researchers Taylor and Tiffany will be visiting the neighborhoods in Boulder with known orcharding history to help us find the remaining oldest apple trees in our area. Thank you to our community members who have already made our students feel welcome! If you see these two out and about with their tree tagging gear, please feel free to ask them about the project and their research interests.

Many of you may have already noticed that this is shaping up to be a bountiful apple season! We are busily preparing for our annual Apple Blitz which will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 8am beginning at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History. Registration for this event will open in early August. This fall, we hope you will make time to visit the Apple Tree Exhibit at the Museum’s Tree Space gallery. If you find that you have too many apples to keep up with, please check in with Community Fruit Rescue for help with your harvest.
